A paper-film from Stockholm’s suburbs Invisible structures of exclusion
on Thursday, 26th November 2015 at 7 p.m.
in the station urbaner kulturen
Sezgin Boynik and Minna L. Henriksson have produced an experimental book Counter-constructivist Model (La Fontaine Stories for immigrants) – paper-film in nine acts in 2012 as a result of their artistic residency at Fittja – a suburb of Stockholm – in collaboration with Botkyrka Konsthall and the Multicultural Center there. It deals with invisible structures of exclusion and segregation based on cultural representations. By employing the collage-like (cinematic) experimental model in dealing with heterogeneous forces of this exclusion, it asks questions regarding violence of segregation, ideology of spontaneity and regimes of representations. Through interviews and commissioned texts, they critically engage with assumed ‘agency of immigrants’ both in art practice and socio-anthropological research. In the ensuing dialog, we will discuss their experiences in the large housing estates of Stockholm and Helsinki with regard to the local situation in Hellersdorf. What role can artistic production play?

Berlin is a magnet for people and investment. Population is expanding, real estate value is rising, residents are being displaced. Many Berliners have to or want to move “outside”. What is outside? deals with questions of social urban development, contexts city-wide and the theme of being “outside”. Ten artistic projects will be realised in and around Underground stations along the U5 line between Hönow on the edge of Berlin and Tierpark in its suburban boroughs.
The station urbaner kulturen near Kaulsdorf-Nord Underground station is a place for production, an address and a meeting point.
